A GROUP established with the hope of removing politics from Portishead Town Council has joined forces with a similar organisation in North Somerset.

The Independent Democrats party was registered by Michael Parker and Roger Whitfield at the beginning of the month with the hope of encouraging independent candidates to join and stand for seats on the town council for May’s election.

Since then, they have joined forces with North Somerset First - another group with similar values which plans to fight for seats on town councils in the area and also North Somerset Council.
