Volunteers’ hard work will go under the microscope when judges for a coveted award visit Portishead.
South West In Bloom judges Terry Porter and Michael Foy will be given a three-hour tour of the town on Monday to grade the efforts of Portishead In Bloom (PIB), which hopes to win a gold award for the 12th consecutive year.
The group's dedicated volunteers have given up countless hours in recent weeks and months to prepare the town for the judges' visit, keeping streets tidy and planting flowers and shrubs.
The tour will culminate at Jubilee Park, in Port Marine, at 1pm, when North Somerset Community Brass Band will perform a concert.
PIB chairman Ian Murphy said: "It would be great to have a big crowd there to welcome the judges.
"We'd appreciate it if people who live or work along the route can help us keep it litter and weed-free."
