A TOTAL of £1,600 has been raised following armed forces-themed parties at a Portishead pub.

The Poacher in High Street held a special day and evening on February 19 to raise money for national charity, Help for Heroes.

On February 5, another fund-raising party was organised by Portishead resident Lee Rackhon, who is a member of the army’s 4 Rifles regiment and is due to fly to Afghanistan tomorrow (Thurs).

About 150 people turned up to the first event, which was organised by Lee to say goodbye to his friends and family before flying out.
