A party atmosphere descended over a North Somerset village as hundreds of people turned out to enjoy the annual church fete.

St Andrew’s Church, in Congresbury, held its annual summer fete on July 1, with villagers enjoying an afternoon of activities with family and friends.

The church paddock was packed with people who enjoyed the various stalls and attractions.

Congresbury Art Group hosted an exhibition which showcased some of its members’ masterpieces, while Mendip Morgan Sports Car Club showed off some of its pristine classic cars in the summer sunshine.

Many villagers entered art and gardening competitions at the fair, with Liz English and John Chaplin claiming prizes in the floral display category while youngster Yuki Collard’s drawing of a butterfly saw her win first prize.

Young Cecilia Brumby also claimed victory when she was awarded best exhibit in the children’s classes for her fruit and vegetable animal.
