Factory housing plan to be scrutinised by parish council

One of the biggest housing developments planned for a village in many years will be debated next week.
Newland Homes’ plans to demolish the old UTC Aerospace factory in Claverham and build dozens of homes will be discussed by Yatton Parish Council on Monday evening.
The development, which would consist of 77 homes, is limited to the old factory’s footprint after the scheme was scaled down.
Newland initially proposed building on the May Day field and northern fields, but scrapped those plans under pressure from villagers and once North Somerset’s housing shortfall pressures lessened.
The area was identified as suitable for housing in the neighbourhood plan Claverham villagers voted through at the start of the year.
Despite that, some concerns over poor transport links have been raised by members of the public already.
The parish council will meet at 7pm at Hangstones Pavilion, in Stowey Road, on Monday.
