VOLUNTEERS will be putting red envelopes through Portishead doors for Christian Aid week, which runs from Sunday to May 19.
This year organisers are keen to get the message across that 99 per cent of the money goes to international aid and only 1 per cent to what the charity commission terms governance.
A spokesman for the Portishead volunteers said: “Last year, despite the recession, Portishead topped the previous year’s collection, achieving a total of 8,829 from door to door collections and we hope that we can do even better this year.”
