A PLANNING notice posted on the gates of a Portishead farm has been deemed a hoax.
On January 28 a document was put up at Court Farm in the town’s High Street advising of proposals to build 14 houses and four social housing homes on agricultural land that residents want to protect.
Furious neighbours began drawing up protest plans while other campaigners contacted North Somerset Council to find out more about the planning application.
Town councillors looking into the matter queried the planning application number quoted, which was outside the usual references, and it was confirmed on Monday that the notice was in fact a hoax.
Despite a huge campaign by members of the community to save Court Farm from being sold off, the site which includes a Grade II listed house, barns and farmland was auctioned in 2010.
Notices have been put up around the farm since, assuring residents that the old farmhouse is being restored and will remain one single dwelling.
Recent activity at the farm as part of a clean up process has worried residents who live in constant fear of development of the historical site for yet more housing.
