THE Royal Portbury Dock played host two historical steam engines last seen in the UK in the 1940s.
The two Stanier 8F steam engines were sent to Turkey as part of the war effort and have now been brought home by steam enthusiasts.
The two engines and their tenders were unloaded at Portbury after arriving from Izmir on the Grande Scandinavia on December 27.
Their owners now have the huge task of transporting the engines by road to their final destination.
