The Great Superhero Bike Hike saw cyclists of all ages complete a three-mile course through Long Ashton, starting at Birdwell Primary School in Hollis Close, which also helped organise the event, and taking riders along the Festival Way cycle path.

Plenty of extra activities lined the route including a superhero-themed quiz, fancy dress competition and a circus skills workshop hosted by Long Ashton Youth Club.

A hog roast and bar were also provided by pub owner Toby Gritten for people to enjoy after a hard day’s cycling.

Lisa Perryman, active lifestyle development officer for North Somerset Council, said: “Everything went according to plan and the feedback has been really positive.

“Working in partnership with so many different agencies allows us to provide this free event for all.”

This year’s event had also had an environmentally friendly theme as participants were encouraged to cycle to the event while free drinking water was provided and materials were recycled at the end.
