THREE young helpers did their bit for their community clearing overgrowing trees blocking a pavement near a Portishead school.

Childminder Kate Betteridge was given a hand to clear tree shoots she spotted growing on to the pavement in Station Road, near Portishead Primary School.

The mum-of-three had previously reported them to North Somerset Council as she was concerned they could have posed a health and safety risk. However, when nothing was done, she decided to take her children Jessica and Elliott, along with Bethan Philpott, along to clear the pavement near their school. While she cut the branches, the children held open recycling bags.
