Healthcare experts in the South West are campaigning for more people to take a free test to find out the condition of their heart.
More than 370 people died from a heart attack or stroke in North Somerset, according to the most recent figures from 2016.
The number rises to 10,000 across the whole of the South West.
Public Health England (PHE) is calling for more people to take the online Heart Age Test which can determine their level of risk of the two conditions.
Debbie Stark, deputy centre director for PHE South West, said: “It is worrying more than 10,000 people in the South West die of a heart attack or stroke each year.
“We know around 80 per cent of heart attacks and strokes in people under 75 could be prevented
“I would urge South West residents to find out their heart age now by taking the quick and easy test.”
