A CHEQUE for thousands of pounds has been handed over to supporters of Clevedon’s hospital.
The money was raised at The Hawthorns retirement complex in Elton Road and recently presented to John Powell, treasurer of The League of Friends of Clevedon Hospital.
The £5,744 will go toward the group’s efforts to help fund facilities and equipment for patients at the Old Street hospital.
The Hawthorns facility manager Goldie Tripney said: “We are hoping that the hospital will still be able to keep going in light of the new hospital not being built.
“Our residents are keen supporters of Clevedon Cottage Hospital and decided that some of our events over the past year were used to raise much-needed money to keep the existing hospital going.”
