More than £3k raised for village gym equipment scheme

A popular community centre has raised more than £3,000 towards gym equipment to enhance its facility.

Long Ashton Community Centre announced it received £2,000 towards the project through Nailsea Tesco's Bags Of Help scheme this month.

The centre confirmed it has already placed orders for two pieces of equipment, and raising £3,511 since the project started last summer.

A spokesman for the centre said: "We're delighted to announce we have reached our fundraising target for two pieces of outdoor gym equipment for Long Ashton's Peel Park.

"We've placed the order for cycling and glute stations and await an installation date.

"We will continue to fund-raise and aim to raise enough to cover rowing station too.

"We are very grateful to a number of organisations in the area who made this possible."
