GUIDES from Backwell District joined with thousands of girls across the country to renew their promise and celebrate 100 years of guiding.
Rainbows, brownies, guides, members of the senior section and volunteers from Backwell and Cleeve threw a party at Cleeve Cricket Club with games and fireworks to commemorate a century and look forward to the next 100 years. Jennie Floyd, Backwell District vision event organiser, said: “As a district we hope that the next 100 years will see guiding grow not only in Backwell and Cleeve, but around the world offering girls and young women everywhere opportunities, experiences and challenges to develop themselves in reaching their full potential and giving back to the worldwide community.”
Over the past year the guides have been celebrating the movement’s centenary year with princess parties, zoo and camping trips.
