Twelve organisations have been handed hundreds of pounds to help with their community work.

The Clevedon Lions Clubs has handed out almost £6,000 to the likes of The Barn Youth Centre, air training corps, schools, scout groups, sports clubs and the Clevedon Community Centre.

The money was raised during the Christmas period from collections at supermarkets and on the Lions’ Santa Float.

It is the fourth year the club has helped other organisations and schools to prosper, donating more than £23,000 over the time.

Club president Sue Miller said: “It is wonderful to see how the money generously donated by the public at Christmas can make a difference to the many people who are members of these groups.

“Over the years, thousands of people will have benefitted in some way.”

The Lions will continue to follow the beneficiaries’ progress.
