Watchhouse Hill has been given a national Green Flag award, which is only awarded to well-managed and high-quality public green spaces.
The 10-hectare spot on the eastern side of Pill is managed by the enthusiastic Friends of Watchhouse Hill who survey its plants, maintain it and organise events there.
It is popular with many different groups of people including dog walkers and cyclists and facilities include a multi-use games area, teen shelter, two football pitches, a cycle track and benches positioned for the best views.
