A talented Clevedon teenager has been named one of the best in Britain in a textile competition.

Clevedon School student Grace McGuigan, aged 18, is celebrating after finishing second in the national final of the UK Young Designer competition.

It is the second year in a row a Clevedon pupil has reached the finals - with Martha Dommett finishing second in last year's competition.

Grace's award-winning project, Inside Out, combined her passion for textiles and biology and had a sustainability focus.

She only used materials which she already had and what could be recycled.

Roz Peacock, the school's head of textiles, said: "This is tremendous news.

"We are delighted for Grace, she is so incredibly talented.

"Her dynamic and mature approach has lead to a range of sophisticated outcomes which is university standard already."
