A baby giraffe is the latest arrival at a Wraxall zoo.

Keepers, staff and visitors at Noah's Ark Zoo Farm, in Clevedon Road,
have celebrated the arrival of Gilbert.

Keepers wanted to open up the naming process to its visitors, so they asked the zoo's Facebook followers, who voted for Gilbert, who was born under close observation by the keepers on Monday.

Giraffes are a protected species and are under the threat of extinction.

Baby Gilbert has spent his days getting used to his new enclosure and neighbours and enjoys running around, spending time with mum Genny and dad Kitto and sleeping in a bundle of hay.

Kito arrived from Dudley Zoo in 2018 and has become a firm favourite with staff and visitors because of his silly ways and charm.

Guests can visit Gilbert in the zoo's giraffe house and find out more about him from the experienced keepers at the daily giraffe talk.
