THE 2nd Clevedon Scouts came to the rescue of a water sports club in the town which needed space to repair its boats.
Following a successful regatta season, Clevedon Pilot Gig Club needed a spacious warehouse for its two 32ft rowing gigs so members could carry out much-needed maintenance and repainting of the vessels.
After an unsuccessful search, the scouts offered to loan the club their hut, which provided a perfect dry dock for the work to be carried out.
This proved doubly appropriate as the club is currently looking to recruit more young members, for whom it has recently bought a smaller, 18ft gig, powered by four oars instead of six. This will then allow them to train on the Marine Lake.
