Wales & West Utilities is planning to upgrade gas pipes in the Clevedon Road area of Tickenham in the new year.
The work, which will see 1,000 metres of gas pipes upgraded, is essential to keep the gas flowing safely to heat and power local homes and businesses.
Wales & West Utilities is currently in the planning stages and is working closely with North Somerset Council to set a start date for the work. It is likely that two-way traffic lights will be in place throughout.
Matt Rees, of Wales & West Utilities, said: “We are working closely with the Council, and it is hoped that we will start the project in January.
"While most of the gas network is underground and out of sight, it plays a central role in the daily lives of people across North Somerset.
“This work is essential to keep the gas flowing to local homes and businesses today, and to make sure the gas network is ready to transport hydrogen and biomethane, so we can all play our part in a green future.”
