TYNTESFIELD House provided a beautiful historic backdrop for a World War Two weekend.

Following on from the feel-good factor created by last week’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations, hundreds flocked to the Wraxall attraction to relive arguably the country’s most patriotic era, as they stepped back in time to the 1930s and 1940s.

The Western Ivicta Military Preservation Society transported visitors back in time to give them a flavour of wartime Britain, with an emphasis on the often-overlooked work done by women on the Home Front.

A series of displays and re-enactments by women in period costumes lit up the weekend as visitors were also given the chance to look around military vehicles and equipment.

The event, in partnership with the Clevedon-based Shopland Collection, was held on June 9 and 10.
