Four new members have been co-opted onto Nailsea Town Council.

The council invited people to put their names forward to fill two vacancies in Yeo Ward and two in West End Ward.

Seven candidates put their names forward for the four positions on the local authority.

Six of the seven candidates attended the town council meeting on June 19 to give a presentation and answer questions from current councillors.

Following an anonymous vote, four new members were co-opted onto the council.

Anita Smith, from Yeomead, and Joanna Hopkinson, of Beech Drive, cover Yeo Ward for the council.

Bennett Kushner, of Chantry Close, and James Steel, of Hazelbury Road, represent West End Ward for Nailsea Town Council.

The next town council meeting will take place on July 31 at 7.30pm at the tithe barn, in Church Lane.
