A former Clevedon Pier trustee has died aged 83.
Anita Sims, who spent eight years as a member of the Clevedon Pier and Heritage Trust, died on December 27 after a period of bad health.
Simon Talbot-Ponsonby, trust chairman, said: “At Clevedon Pier we were delighted when Anita became a trustee in 2008.
“Her conservation knowledge and experience were very valuable to us, putting us right when we fell short.
“Anita was a very intelligent and thoughtful person, with a huge experience across many fields.
“We shall all miss Anita enormously, but our lives have been enriched through knowing her.
“We can share fond and happy memories of her and be thankful that we have been privileged to know her.”
Anita was married to her husband Ron for 58 years and the pair had two children – Kenneth and Helen.
They also shared a passion for two local paddle steamers – The Waverley and The Balmoral.
Anita also worked as a conservation architect for 40 years including holding the role of conservation officer at Woodspring District Council – now North Somerset – from 1983 to 1997.
