North Somerset Council has been recognised as the top performing authority in the West of England for completing planned food inspections.
The council's food safety team was also the only one in the region to complete the maximum 100 per cent of its targeted inspections in 2018-19.
The previous year they had 96.74 per cent.
They inspected premises ranging from major manufacturers to care homes, schools, children's nurseries, hotels, restaurants, bars, pubs and shops.
This is the third year running since the council has been the top performing authority in the West of England.
Cllr Mike Bell, executive member with responsibility for public health and regulatory services, said: "This is testament to the hard work of the team and their commitment to making sure businesses across North Somerset enforce the highest food safety standards."
