A new fish trail will be set up at Clevedon Pier to help visitors learn about the types that live in the Bristol Channel.

The trail, which has been sponsored by Cotswold Homes, will see eight fish-shaped metal plaques placed on seats along the Grade I-listed structure with leaflets handed to visitors to help them identify and learn about each fish.

These vary from the turbot, a flatfish species, to the common smoothound – a type of shark that can be caught off Clevedon Pier.

It will be running in time for the opening of the pier’s new visitor centre on May 30.

Live music, dancing and fireworks are some of the attractions that will be put on to celebrate the opening.
