Bus bosses will front up to the people of Portishead at monthly surgeries after a spike in public transport problems.

First Bus will host a surgery at the Folk Hall, in High Street, every other month to allow people to raise their concerns.

The public sessions will be held on the last Thursday of the month – with the first one next week on March 28, running from 11am to noon.

Complaints about Portishead’s bus services have been increasingly common in recent months, particularly around the marina development.

The narrow roads of Phoenix Way and Newfoundland Way in particular have proved difficult to navigate for bus drivers, with poorly-parked cars cited as the cause.

First Bus’ X3A route no longer goes through the marina due to the issues, and North Somerset Council has resorted to painting double-yellow lines on a trial basis in a bid to alleviate the traffic problems.
