Bare feet will rush over scalding hot coals in memory of a Clevedon man.
The family of Andrew Iles, known to many as Iler, will be hosting a firewalk to raise money for St Peter’s Hospice to thank staff for the ‘outstanding care and support’ they received.
Andrew was heavily involved with Clevedon United Football Club where he managed various football teams for several years.
He sadly died in July 2017 after losing his battle with cancer.
The firewalk has been organised by his niece, Sarah Dunn.
She said: “We want to thank St Peter’s Hospice for the outstanding care and support they gave, not only to him, his wife Caz and their daughter Bethany, but to the whole extended family in the last weeks of his life.
“In your darkest hours, they somehow manage to make it more bearable and, through their amazing staff, ensure everyone is looked after and lots of happy memories are being made.
“We had such as the lovely tea party out in the sunshine in the beautiful grounds which they helped us facilitate.
“We will be eternally grateful for the love and support they showed us all.”
The family have raised more than £4,500 through raffles, race nights and half marathons.
Sarah said: “The latest challenge is a firewalk and we are looking for brave thrill seekers looking for a challenge, while helping raise vital funds for the hospice.”
The family are also offering a certain number of places to people wishing to complete the firewalk for another charity of their choice.
Sarah added: “It is perfect for those wishing to raise funds for a charity close to their heart but do not necessarily have the time to organise one.
“We will do all the organising, you just need to get a team together and get some sponsorship.”
The event will take place on February 15 at Clevedon United Football Club, in Coleridge Vale, at 6.45pm.
It is £15 to enter and to book a place, call Sarah on 07790 014445 or Caz on 07914 014246.
