YOUNGSTERS at a Wraxall-based children’s charity had the chance to meet some fund-raising firefighters.
On January 26, firefighters visited Charlton Farm, which is run by Children’s Hospice South West, to hand over 5,000 they had raised toward its work.
The firefighters were from Avonmouth, Bedminster, Patchway and Temple fire stations and collected the money by shaking buckets at Bristol’s Cabot Circus shopping centre and encouraging people to give donations.
Karen Edgington, head of fund-raising for Charlton Farm, said: “We are delighted that Avon Fire & Rescue Service has chosen to support Children’s Hospice South West with their bucket collecting.
“The money raised will go to support the vital work we do in the care of life-limited children across the South West. “What a thrill for the families to have a visit from the firefighters too.”
