SIX fire engines were called to tackle a blaze in Walton-In-Gordano overnight.
The blaze happened at a single storey house in Walton Street at around 3.19am, and two engines from Clevedon were called.
After initial reports of a person being trapped in the property and the existence of gas cylinders four more engines from Avonmouth, Portishead and Pill were called.
Using breathing apparatus and foam jets the fire crews were able to put the blaze out, and initial reports of a trapped person proved to be unfounded.
