FIREFIGHTERS were called to a supermarket blaze in Nailsea this morning (Thursday).
At 5.50am two fire engines from Nailsea Fire Station were called to deal with a fire in the loading bay of Tesco in Stock Way North.
The fire was affecting the inside and outside of the building.
An Avon Fire and Rescue spokesman said: “Fortunately, the sprinkler system inside had activated.”
Two firefighters used high pressure hose reels and 45mm jets to extinguish the fire, which was outside of the property, but flames and smoke were spreading to the inside of the building.
The spokesman added: “The store part of the building was not affected. The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
