Fire at timber merchants in Clevedon

Firefighters were called to a timber suppliers in Clevedon in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday) after a fire broke out.

Crews from Clevedon Fire Station were dispatched to Tweed Road at 3.11am.

On arrival, crews found there had been a fire in an outbuilding.

A high-pressure hose was used to extinguish the blaze and a thermal imaging camera was used to check the flames were all out.

Avon Fire and Rescue Service firefighters stayed on the scene for an hour damping down and removed sawdust from the building to ensure the fire was not re-ignited.

A fire service spokesman said it believes the fire was begun accidentally.
