Beautiful floral displays were shown off by Portishead in Bloom as it seeks an eighth gold medal for its wonderful work.

Judges from the South West in Bloom competition visited the town on July 16.

After a meeting at the Folk Hall, they were whisked on a three-hour tour to see all the floral arrangements which volunteers have lovingly created.

Sandy Tebbutt said the weather did the team no favours, but was hopeful Portishead in Bloom’s impressive record would continue.

She said: “We won’t know until September 24 (if we have won), when there is a big celebration at the naval college in Dartmouth. We felt it went well and are happy with the chosen route we took.”

She said the High Street and Portbury Nature Reserve particularly impressed the judges and thanked volunteers and supporters of the project.
