PORTISHEAD’S Folk Hall was filled with colour and scent for the Horticultural Society’s Spring Show on Saturday.

The event saw a record number of entries this year, with everyone from keen gardeners to novice cooks showing off their efforts.

Daffodils, hyacinths, crocus and tulips vied for attention from floral art displays and pot plants. Mouth watering cookery, nursery school art and even samples of handwriting were packed into another successful show, in which members of the community from small children to senior citizens took part.

Society spokesman John Tovey said: “We are very pleased that the gardeners of Portishead have made such an effort to make the show a success. We would like to thank all entrants and sponsors of the show.”
