‘Excellent’ River Yeo day held

Nature-lovers turned out to enjoy a river education day in Congresbury, despite having to contend with some rather wet weather.
The free wet and wild event was organised by the Yatton and Congresbury Wildlife Action Group (YACWAG) and took place on the banks of the River Yeo, on the Millennium Green.
The Bristol and Avon Rivers Trust (BART) were also involved in organising the day. Its spokesman said: “There were lots of excellent activities on the day, including owl pallet analysis, pond dipping and raft building and racing.
“Children from St Andrew’s Primary School, in Congresbury, had also been looking after baby eels and released them into the river.
“We would also like to thank the Environment Agency for lending us a fascinating river catchment model on the day.”
