A COMMUNITY group created to help reduce energy costs and the carbon footprint in and around Portishead is appealing to residents to help them gather information.

Low Carbon Gordano needs at least 15,000 home energy surveys completed before the end of March to allow it to access a Government grant to help with its work. However, members fear a delay in getting the surveys delivered could mean they miss the deadline.

Group spokesman Jon Gething said: “We need this information to build up an accurate picture of the housing stock in our area, so we can identify what is needed to make the area more energy efficient and more sustainable.”

The survey - now online at www.tinyurl.com/gordanoenergysurvey - covers the BS20 postal area plus Walton-in-Gordano, Abbotts Leigh and Leigh Woods, takes five minutes to complete and responses will be processed by the Centre for Sustainable Energy in Bristol.

The first 1,000 people to complete the survey will be entered into a 500 prize draw. For more details about Low Carbon Gordano visit www.lowcarbongordano.co.uk
