Avon Fire and Rescue Service and Avon and Somerset Constabulary’s Nailsea beat team hosted a successful community family day in Pill which gave people the chance to ask questions about community safety and look around the services’ vehicles.

Youngsters last weekend could be seen trying on some firefighter helmets and others dressed up as police officers during the event.

Pill Fire Station watch manager Marcus Sherborne said: “Events like this are a fantastic opportunity for us to engage with members of the community who might not know the extent of what we do.”

PCSO Michael Jordan added: “Engaging with the community is a really important role for us as a local police team and we aim to speak to residents at every opportunity.”
