A main road in Backwell will be closed from Friday to enable emergency repairs to be carried out on underground electricity cables.

The emergency road closure will be in place until Monday so Western Power Distribution can carry out repairs under the railway bridge in Station Road.

A fault occured with the underground cable last week and an extensive amount needs to be replaced.

Work will start tomorrow (Wednesday) and continue for a number of weeks. The road will be closed from 7pm on Friday and a diversion route will be signposted.

Temporary traffic lights will be used to control traffic after the road reopens.
