Schoolchildren have raised hundreds of pounds for charity by being enterprising in class.

Charity afternoons were held at Yatton Junior School, and saw pupils have great fun in the sunshine while collecting more than £550 for charity.

All pupils were involved in planning, organising and running stalls, plus activities, messy obstacle courses, mazes, cake and toy sales, Nerf Gun target shooting, face-painting and lucky dips.

This year the chosen charities to benefit were Cancer Research UK and Dogs Friends.

Jon Heywood, deputy headteacher at the Federation of Yatton Schools: “This is very much a child-led event with children choosing which charities they wish to raise money for, doing all the planning of the activities and collecting in the money.

“It is always brilliant to see their enthusiasm in working together and raising such a phenomenal amount for good causes that matter so much to them.”
