PRIMARY school children learnt what floats their boats when they made models at Nailsea School.
Year three and four pupils from Wraxall Primary School took part in a boat building challenge as part of a River Project.
Nailsea School’s technology teacher Natasha Allright designed the boats and created a paddle which the students had to build themselves using a variety of tools and equipment.
The children designed their own sails and attached them to complete the boats before testing them out in a water tank.
Miss Allright said: “It has been a great experience working with the pupils, they were very creative with their own designs of the sail and demonstrated good practical skills. “With the opportunity of doing design technology at Nailsea, it allows them to become more familiar with the school and to help with the transition process”.
