Waitrose staff donate uniforms to Portishead school children

IT’S been out with the old and in with the new at Waitrose in Portishead.

As new uniforms were introduced to the Harbour Road supermarket, pupils from primary schools in the town made good use of the old ones.

Children from St Peter’s and Portishead primary schools had a share of the redundant uniforms.

Children at St Peter’s took part in a textile recycling scheme, receiving cash for the uniforms which will then be redistributed in developing countries, while children at Portishead Primary School used them for overalls to keep their clothes paint free during art lessons.

Charlotte Candow,
chairman of St Peter’s School Association said: “Thanks to Waitrose two schools have benefited from their old uniforms, which supports our aim to re-use and re-cycle.”
