The Euro 2016 football championships may be in full swing but the High Down cricket team deservedly claimed the limelight last week.
Its year five side took part in the North Somerset Kwik cricket tournament on June 14 at Weston Cricket Club.
The Portishead youngsters batted, bowled and fielded well enough to pick up the title at the end of the day.
PE teacher Del Shayler said: “The whole team played superbly for themselves and their team mates.
“Cricket is such a great sport as the only comments that come out of the players mouths are positive and helpful to their teammates.
“The team will travel to Clevedon Cricket Club for the county finals on July 5 and we wish them every success.”
