Children at Yatton Federated School enjoyed lessons in a Victorian-style schoolroom during their Victorian day last week.
Pupils in year two at the High Street school wore traditional clothing to improve their understanding of the period, which lasted during the reign of Queen Victoria from 1837 to 1901.
A spokesman for the school said: “As part of their Victorian topic pupils travelled back in time to become Victorian servants at Tyntesfield, where they got to polish shoes, empty out the chamber pots and investigated the past by handling artefacts.
“Back at school, they had a Victorian school day where staff and children dressed in traditional Victorian-style clothing and had Victorian-style lessons.
“The children practised drills and handwriting and learned some traditional Victorian playground games.”
