CLEVEDON’S very own torch relay saw children run from school to school with torchbearer and former Clevedon School pupil, Lauren Civil-Holt.
As the official torch route did not pass through the town, youngsters held their own version of the event complete with an entourage made up of teachers, a police escort, parents and even a media team.
Starting at Mary Elton Primary School, youngsters accompanied 19-year-old Lauren and her torch to St John the Evangelist, St Nicholas Chantry, Yeo Moor and All Saints East Clevedon primary schools. At each school they took part in laps around their playgrounds.
Classes made banners, masks and flags to represent their chosen nations and many parents went along to cheer on the procession.
Finally, all 30 children who took part in the event ran to Clevedon School where they were met with loud applause. They were also given a presentation by Lauren about her experiences as a torchbearer.
