Primary school pupils in Congresbury were treated to a day in the life of a Times journalist when reporter Grace Earl popped by to share some words of wisdom.

She visited the children at St Andrew’s Primary School earlier this month to let them know what it is like working on a local newspaper in North Somerset.

The pupils were treated to a demonstration of writing in shorthand and asked Grace a series of questions about what working on a busy newsdesk was really like.

The children had been learning about writing news articles as part of the whole-school writing week, so Grace then explained how she writes her interesting stories and what it is like to interview people.
