A TEAM of competitive swimmers from Portishead has been declared the fastest primary school swimmers in North Somerset.
Five pupils from St Peter’s Primary School competed against 18 other teams across the South West to finish third overall in the South West of England Swimming Championships.
The girls also finished third in the 100m freestyle relay but missed out on a place in the National Championships in Sheffield by 0.25 seconds.
Swimming supervisor and parent swimmer Merrion Murgatroyd said: “To be officially classed as the fastest school in the whole of the south west of England is an amazing achievement, we are very proud of them all.”
