THOUSANDS of pounds have been raised by teams of swimmers in Pill.
A sponsored swim was held in the pool at Crockerne Primary School in Westward Drive to raise money toward a new roof for the facility.
Organised by teacher Neil Seagar and a team of lifeguards, the event saw a total of 96 pupils, staff and parents take to the water from 6.30am-9pm. Children swam for 15 minutes at a time and the adults for 20 minutes.
More than £3,000 in sponsorship was raised by the event, which has been added to a £700 donation from banking giant Santander.
A new roof needs to be installed over the pool to allow it to stay open in the future. Anyone wishing to donate to the cause can find out more by calling the school on 01275 372659.
