SURPRISED children from Backwell were treated to a visit from a cavalry officer during a remembrance service.
Fairfield School pupils discovered a horse and uniformed cavalry man in their playground after taking part in a two-minute silence.
Nicola Pratt, who specialises in historic cavalry events, attended in full battle dress with her horse Brunel.
Headteacher Lesley Barton said: βIt was a wonderful opportunity for them to witness firsthand and to learn about the role horses played in World War One.β
