Students learn the ropes at busy hotel

GORDANO School pupils learnt what it takes to run a busy hotel during a visit to Doubletree by Hilton, Cadbury House in Congresbury.

More than 50 14-year-olds from the Portishead school went along to the venue where they were involved in activities including setting up a room for a gala dinner and getting ready for a conference.

They were also given chef demonstrations on food preparation, healthy eating and safety in the kitchen.

Organiser Sarah Warren said: “We’re always pleased to show local school pupils what is involved with a business like ours. There is always so much more than meets the eye and the pupils really get an idea of how much work is needed.”
