'Remarkable' St Katherine's School students receive A-level results

St Katherine's School has enjoyed 'many success stories' today (Thursday), as sixth-form students received their A-level results.
Years of hard work were rewarded with top marks as pupils collected their exam scores.
The overall pass rate at the school, in Pill, was 96 per cent, down four per cent on 2018 - with 64 per cent of entries graded A*-C, down from 91 per cent last year.
Almost a third of grades were A or better, representing a marginal increase on the previous year.
Headteacher Justin Humphreys praised students and teachers for their 'hard work and dedication'.
He said: "There are many examples of personal success stories where students have shown great resilience and determination, resulting in students being rewarded across both academic and vocational subjects.
"As Year 13 leave our school community, we wish them all the very best for successful futures in their chosen pathway."
All of St Katherine's students who applied to go to university secured a place at one of their chosen two destinations.
Luke Talbot-Ponsonby was one of the school's top students, receiving A* grades in maths, further maths and physics. He will study physics and astrophysics at The University of Manchester in the autumn.
He told the Times: "I did really well, I'm shocked. It wasn't a sleepless night, but I wasn't expecting to do as well as this.
"I don't know what I want to do long-term, I will see where the degree takes me.
"I will miss St Kath's. It's been nice but I'm also excited."
Steve Colbourne, St Katherine's head of sixth form, congratulated the students as they head to university or the world of work.
He said: "It has been a pleasure to work with all of the wonderful young people who will now go on and be the future scientists, entrepreneurs, artists and engineers of the future.
"It is with great pride we have again supported so many students through successful university applications, with half of those taking up places being of the first generation in their family to do so.
"I look forward to continuing to work with the remarkable young people studying with us."
