School achieves silver sports award

A Nailsea primary school is celebrating after receiving a silver award for its commitment to sports.
St Francis Primary School has been running more sporting events and encouraging pupils to get involved with sports.
Sports leaders have also been planning activities for fellow pupils and showcasing the sports on offer after school hours.

A school spokesman said: “St Francis School has worked hard this year to increase whole school participation of sport across the school.
“With a variety of sporting events held at the school, ranging from mini tag rugby festivals to whole school cup stacking events.

“It has also been a fantastic bonus to have the new addition of sport leaders to champion sport.”
The School Games Mark is a Government-led scheme which rewards schools across the country for their commitment to the development of competition.
